Poole Townsend are proud to sponsor the Furness Phantoms, a local American Football team.

American football, or ‘Britball’ as the British game is often referred to, is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK with 3 leagues which are then split into separate conferences.

The Phantoms were previously the Walney Terriers, changed their name when they moved to Ulverston offering a chance for everyone in the Furness region to have a go.

Established in 2011 and became full members of The British American Football Association (BAFA) in 2013. They currently compete in the second division, Central conference.

The team started their 2018 campaign off strong with 2 wins over fierce local rivals, Morecambe Bay Storm. Their next game is at home against The Chester Romans. With such a great start to the season we can't wait to see how they get on during the rest.

Supporting the Team

If you're interested in giving ‘Britball’ a go or wanting to be a loyal sideline fan, join them at the GSK Sports & Leisure Club in Ulverston every Sunday, with training taking place every Wednesday at 6.30pm.
