Arnside is a stunning seaside resort in South Cumbria, set within a designated area of outstanding natural beauty where the River Kent meets Morecambe Bay. With unspoilt views, a wealth of independent shops and cafes, beautiful walks, and plenty of history, this pretty village is a must visit destination and a fantastic place to call home.
Walks along the beach allow you to take in the breathtaking scenery and enjoy views of Arnside Viaduct and distant views of Grange-over-Sands, which is across the Kent estuary but only a 20 minute drive away. The promenade by the beach displays an array of cafes, shops and art galleries and the pier allows you to get closer to the water to enjoy the view. This is also a great spot to watch the Arnside Bore, a tidal wave caused by the incoming tide.
Ideal for family living, the village of Arnside offers a fantastic outdoor lifestyle but also provides family amenities such as the local primary school, two wonderful playgrounds, tennis courts, and child friendly walks. Nature is in abundance and with sandy beaches, woodland trails and open countryside on the doorstep. The RSPB Nature Reserve at Leighton Moss is only a 10 minute drive away so it’s the perfect place to discover and learn.
Landmarks such as Arnside Tower, which is the remains of a stone-built medieval tower, the Old Customs Building, and the Fairy Steps nearby, mean there are plenty of things to learn about from times gone by as well!
Arnside Knott provides spectacular views of the Lakeland fells and beautiful walks which are suitable for families too. The route takes roughly 6 hours and you can stop by the Bob-In Cafe on the way to enjoy a quick drink and snack on the beach before continuing your walk.
With regular events from Arnside & Silverdale Art Trail to football and cricket matches, there is always something happening in the village.
