Welcome to the new year. With 2021 firmly behind us, as always, we reflect on the year past and the year to come. 2021 was a roaring success in terms of property sales with record high sales figures across the board.

So, what does 2022 have in store for us? Well, it seems that the market is in good hands. Rightmove has reported record breaking figures over the Christmas period for both buyers and potential sellers.

The level of available property has been extremely low and the amount of people looking for property very high. Demand is certainly outstripping supply. In fact Rightmove state that ‘buyer demand’ was up 23% compared to the same time last year.

Obviously, the automatic concern with the huge number of people looking is that, with such low stock levels, the prices are only going one way as the fight for the next property resumes. However, encouragingly, Rightmove have also registered a 21% increase in new sellers coming to the market this Christmas compared to last.

Boxing Day saw the highest ever levels of site visits and new sellers on record.
