Dear Editor,
In these days of complaints, compensation and an environment of doom and gloom, my heart was lifted today by the actions of a professional I employed to provide me with a service. The individual in question was a Mr. Peter Yates, a solicitor with Poole Townsend. I went to Poole Townsend without an appointment on Monday afternoon to seek advice regarding some urgent paperwork my daughter required to be sworn and signed by a solicitor.
Unfortunately I was able to provide very little notice as my daughter was due to leave the country in three days. I was introduced to Mr. Yates who suggested how we might achieve what was required within the time scale given. To this end he suggested what he thought was required and while I waited he dictated the draught of the document and requested his secretary type up the document and email it to me for approval. This was done and by teatime the same day my daughter had read the draught, confirmed its content and returned it to Mr Yates's secretary, she indicated she would contact Mr. Yates to arrange coming out of work to sign the document at Poole Townsend's Ulverston office, although this would be difficult due to the nature of her work. I spoke to my daughter today, Tuesday, asking if she had been to sign the document and to my surprise she informs me that following a conversation with Mr. Yates he turned up at her place of work with the documents ready for signing.
I would like to thank Mr. Yates for his understanding and the haste he showed while I was with him but more than that I wish to thank him for his actions above and beyond those one would normally expect from a solicitor. My daughter is now ready to travel with all the paperwork she needs and none of the stress of waiting for the wheels of bureaucracy to slowly turn.
This just shows that there are individuals out there willing to go that extra mile to provide a service they should be very proud of. Thanks again Mr. Yates.
Appreciably yours,
Mr Roberts, Barrow-in-Furness
