Poole Townsend, the region’s largest independent solicitor, estate/letting agent and Independent Financial Adviser held their Annual Conference last week (Friday 14th May 2010), at the community sports field in Haverthwaite and the message was a resounding positive one for the future.
The key message at the 2010 annual conference was ‘It’s all about Teamwork. Support each other, look after our clients, and have fun’. Peter Yates, Partner, opened the conference with a heart felt speech reminiscing about the firm’s 100 year pedigree in the legal profession, coupled with its 18 years experience in estate agency and 17 in financial services.
With a solid local foundation, Poole Townsend today employs nearly 100 staff at six offices throughout Furness and the South Lakes, of which close to 90 attended the annual conference. And to ensure that everyone kept smiling, Ulverston based, Corporate Adrenalin organised a number of team building activities throughout the conference to get everyone working together whilst having a lot of fun.
Peter commented: “The last two years have been challenging. However, as a firm we have always looked ahead to the future. Even when the country was going through one it its worst recessions, we looked ahead and purchased a legal practice in Milnthorpe to help us expand our services further. We have never been a firm to stand back and wait for things to happen.
“We have always been forward thinking and were one of the first solicitors in the country in 1992 to branch out into estate agency. A year later Martin Oates, a partner with the firm, set up the Financial Services division which is today headed by Derek Pearce and is one of the largest Solicitor Independent Financial Adviser practices in the North West.
“To ensure we came through the recession we had to tighten up our financial procedures and policies. But in doing so this has put us in a very good position to take the business forward into our new financial year.
“The firm has progressed and with the support and help of our dedicated, loyal staff we will continue to progress for hopefully the next 100 years. Our balance sheet is very healthy and we are going from strength to strength. 2010 will see us continually looking at new ways in which we can invest in the company.
“Our goal for 2010 is to continue investing in our people and our local community. As a local firm, we recognise that our local community is where our clients are. Already this year we have invested in a number of initiatives throughout the area and we shall continue to do so. Being a local firm, gives us the advantage of being able to fully understand our clients needs better than anyone else”.
Peter concluded: “It’s all about working as a team, offering the highest standards of service to our clients and drawing on individual strengths to go that extra mile. This will enable us to continue being successful as a firm. We offer leadership as the owners and managers of the firm, but it’s all down to you as the magic ingredient, to make sure we deliver the best advice and service to our clients”.
